It's Here! So what's wrong now?
After a long stretch of work, Casino Oblivion exists! It went through so many changes and iterations, that it is very much a departure from the original idea, which was exactly: "mafia skeletons??"
Casino Oblivion is probably my most ambitious project at this point, and it was very different to work on compared to the other, much simpler and goofier ideas. But I really wanted to get it out there, since I personally find the class system so engaging. It was the first section of the game that I wrote, and it's been mostly unchanged since then.
What has changed is everything surrounding the classes. It took so much work to connect the classes to some kind of intrinsic narrative motivation, and I still think that connection is a little shoddy. But if you are motivated and engaged as a player, you'll be able to make that connection on your own.
The other section that has changed significantly is the design of the Casinos. The original version of this system is what is published now, but as I was writing it, I ran into so many better ideas, that would require an entire overhaul of the Casino Design section, and the Making Checks section. These will be incorporated, along with the promised pre-built Casino. (That map does exist, it just needs significant annotations, and to be updated with the future changes.)
So while the game is very much in Alpha, the key components are there.
